Gene Taylor Museum

At the northeast corner of the Square is a replica of an office used by Congressman Gene Taylor during his 16-year tenure in Washington, DC. 

This building houses mementos of Mr. Taylor’s years in public service. History on the Wild Peony fields, as well as other various memorabilia on Sarcoxie’s rich history is also on display. 

The Tourist Information Center and Chamber of commerce are also located in this building.
Free Admission Hours: Monday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Center Creek Country Club

Center Creek Country Club is a 9-hole golf course located just north of I-44 at exit 26. It’s challenging terrain makes the game interesting for golfers of all ages and levels of expertise. Reasonable green fees, with rental carts available.

Cave Springs

Northeast of Sarcoxie, this Historical site near Cave Springs was used for 128 years. The one-room, brick Cave Spring School was built in the early 1840s to educate children of the Cave Spring community. During the Civil War, it served as a federal militia garrison and after the war, it was the seat of county government after the Jasper County Courthouse was burned down. The first public school in Jasper County. Established on Center Creek near Sarcoxie in 1842. Also known as Teas School after teacher, Samuel Teas.
